Bachelors in Electrical Engineering

The Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa is an education course which focuses on engineering, specifically on electrical engineering.

Wits' 4-year, full-time Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering covers a wide range of subjects within electrical engineering involving the generation and use of electrical energy. Students gain a deep understanding of all the phases: planning and operation of power generating plants, digital computers' use, information transfer, and telecommunication systems. Students may also choose to pursue an Information Engineering option within this electrical engineering education.   

The first 2 years of the Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering curriculum teach physics, chemistry of materials, and mathematics. The 3rd year emphasizes electrical engineering science including advanced subjects such as mathematical methods, electronics, electromagnetic engineering, and power engineering. The Information Engineering major has more of a focus on computer networking, software engineering, and telecommunications. In the last year of study, five required unites include Systems Management, Engineering Laboratory, and Engineering Design.

Upon completion of the Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, graduates are well-prepared to launch a successful career in the field of electrical engineering, or may decide to continue their education toward a postgraduate degree.
