This program is designed for those with an interest in developing an integrated scientific perspective comprising the fundamentals of molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and cell biology, all of which are built upon a solid background in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Students learn how to apply the principles and methods of engineering sciences to study biological applications and its problems, to gain an engineering foundation with emphasis on biochemical process applications.

The goals of Genetics and Bioengineering education are the following:

  • To give knowledge and experience in area of Genetics, Molecular biology and Bioengineering
  • To conduct basic and experimental high quality researches and to apply engineering and physical sciences to medical and biological problems.
  • To prepare a ground for the students so that they can learn how to apply engineering technologies to living systems in a safe way.
  • To give problem solving and team forming abilities which are necessary for genetics and bioengineering carrier.
  • To develop effective communication abilities and joining into interdisciplinary teams. To give education to the students in a broad spectrum and their preparation for carrier in a wide range.

Those who have graduated have a wide range of jobs that they can seek for, depending on individual interests. Some of the options are: continuing their academic careers; or a career in various industrial fields (pharmaceutical, biotechnological, agricultural or similar); then, a career in the field of scientific research in biomedicine, whether in clinical or forensic field; as well as employment in various governmental and non-governmental institutions at the national and international level.
