The Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) Berlin, a university of applied sciences, offers 70 study programmes from engineering, computer science, and economics to culture and design. Traditional applied sciences like mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, and business administration go hand in hand with more contemporary and innovative studies such as information technology/networked systems, construction and real estate management or renewable energy systems technology.
With more than 13,500 students, 280 professors and 800 associate lecturers, HTW Berlin is one of Germany's large universities of applied sciences. It is frequently recognised for the high quality of its study programmes and cultivates ties with over 130 universities worldwide, thus maintaining strong bonds with collaborative partners. HTW Berlin graduates are ranked among the best by the personnel managers of the top German companies.
The university is based in an extremely multicultural city of approx. 3.5 million people - with the cultural resources to match - there is nearly always something going on in Berlin. Whether you are into art museums, cinema, theatre, opera, discos or the café scene, it is certain that there will be something to your taste. Are you more of an outdoor person? Berlin is also one of the greenest cities in Europe - you will find a spot where you can get away from it all even within the city limits.
Berlin has the largest and most diverse student population in Germany. The 140,000 university students who call Berlin home give a great lift to the city's spirit. As the European Union expands eastward, Berlin stands poised to take a very central position on the continent. Now is certainly a good time to say: "Ich bin ein Berliner!"
