About this program

Offshore floating liquefied natural gas facilities and future deep-water, remote oil and gas production requires the development of new technologies to bring hydrocarbon reserves onshore.

Our Graduate Diploma in Subsea Engineering is a subsidiary to the Master of Subsea Engineering. If you have an engineering degree or significant expertise in subsea engineering, the Graduate Diploma of Subsea Engineering can help you to develop the highly specialised skills and knowledge required for working on locating, extracting and transporting offshore energy reserves. 

The course will provide you with a pathway for graduate entry into the subsea profession.

If you are an engineering graduate, this course provides an introduction to subsea engineering and is a pathway for entry to the Master of Subsea Engineering.

The Graduate Diploma of Subsea Engineering broadly covers offshore oil and gas development and subsea infrastructure. Throughout your studies, you will have significant interaction with leading industry experts working within various subsea disciplines. 

The course comprises coursework units in areas such as:

  • subsea infrastructure
  • construction and installation
  • operations and maintenance.

Program content

  • apply the knowledge of subsea engineering to specify subsea equipment that will facilitate the transport of hydrocarbon from wellheads to shore facilities
  • analyse a subsea equipment requirements in a logical, rational and critical way; identify the equipment subsystems that will provide a suitable technical solution
  • obtain, evaluate and apply relevant data from a range of sources for a subsea equipment development
  • communicate effectively with a wide range of people from different discipline areas, professional positions and countries; able to communicate engineering findings in a variety of ways via written, verbal or electronic communications
  • able to identify appropriate technology for the implementation and extension of subsea developments
  • appreciate the need for, and develop, a lifelong learning skills strategy in relation to enhanced personal and company performance
  • recognise the global nature of the oil and gas industry and apply global standard practices and skills for acceptable engineering outcomes regardless of discipline or geographical location
  • demonstrate an awareness and understanding of cultural perspectives and practices affected by oil and gas production; able to work and apply discipline knowledge within an International exploration and production company
  • apply lessons learnt in a professional manner in all areas of engineering design, demonstrating leadership and ethical behaviour at all times
