Bachelors in Civil Engineering (Building and Industry Construction)

During the study, the student of the specialization of Building and Industrial Constructions will acquire the knowledge of designing and realization of building constructions - residential buildings, civic amenities buildings, industrial buildings and agricultural buildings.

The regulations for admission are governed by the Statute of VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, specifically the Article 8.

Criteria for Admission

  • Secondary school-leaving certificate
  • English-language ability – students, who are not native speakers may be asked to demonstrate their ability to study in English, e.g. by presenting the results of any language tests they have taken. English language ability document - minimum requirements: IELTS score 5,0; TOEFL internet-based score 62 (possibly other certificates at the same level).
  • Entrance examination (according to the Faculty Admission Procedure Rules and Conditions for Admission)

Tuition fee: 50 000 CZK per semester, approx. 4000 EUR per academic year

Graduate's knowledge

After passing the Bachelor’s degree in the field of study Civil Engineering - Building and Industrial Constructions, the graduate acquires the knowledge for the design of buildings, as well as the knowledge for their realization. The graduate also acquires the knowledge about the issue of the foundation engineering, the concrete, brick, metal and wooden constructions, the building interior installation, the building physics, the building failures and the redevelopment of these failures. The graduate also acquires the knowledge about currently implemented BIM (Building Information Modelling).

Graduate's skills

After passing the Bachelor’s degree in the field of study Civil Engineering - Building and Industrial Constructions, the graduate acquires the skills in designing building constructions. The graduate also acquires the skills related to the design of foundation structures of buildings, the concrete, brick, metal and wooden constructions, the building interior installation, the building physics. The graduate also acquires the skills in solving building failures and redevelopment of these failures. The graduate also acquires the skills related to the practical application of BIM (Building Information Modelling)

Graduate's employment

The graduate acquires the knowledge for the design of buildings, as well as the knowledge for their realization. The graduate also acquires the knowledge about the issue of the foundation engineering, the concrete, brick, metal and wooden constructions, the building interior installation, the building physics, the building failures and the redevelopment of these failures. The graduate also acquires the knowledge about currently implemented BIM. The graduate finds out application in the design practice, in the construction of buildings and in the field of capital construction. The graduate will be prepared for the Master Study at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava or at other Faculties of Civil Engineering in the Czech Republic and abroad.
