About this program
The goal of the Nano and Micro Systems Master is to train professionals in the design, fabrication and characterization of nano- and micro- systems for different applications, such as sensors and actuators, photonics, BioMEMS, micromechanic sensoristics, with high scientific and industrial impact.
The Master course is divided into three periods. The first period offers basic knowledge on the NEMS- MEMS topics. During the second period, students will have the chance to attend courses associated to a specific thematic area chosen among those activated. The Master will offer an educational portfolio that includes three thematic areas (Bio NEMS - MEMS, photonic NEMS-MEMS, NEMS-MEMS for sensors and actuators).
Key topics of study in the Nano and Micro Systems include:
- Introduction to NEMS/MEMS and their commercialization
- From Research to Business
- Introduction to the materials and to their mechanical properties
- Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies
- Electronic systems
- Processes of the MEMS realization
- Introduction to BioMEMS
- Project management
In order to get all the credits, students will have to pass exams according to the study plan. These exams will be taken at the end of each study period.
During the third period students will carry out a five-month stage in one of the companies that sponsor the Master.
