The University of Pavia and the University for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia present a new international Master's degree program in Civil Engineering for Mitigation of Risk from Natural Hazards. The program is structured in two curricula:
- Reduction of Seismic Risk (ROSE);
- Hydrogeological Risk Assessment and Mitigation (HYRIS).
Courses are taught in English by highly qualified professors with an internationally recognized scientific activity.

Admission requirements
- 3-year undergraduate degree, a 3-year diploma or a foreign qualification degree that is recognized as eligible according to current regulations.
The admission Committee will make sure that the applicant has successfully taken a sufficient number of courses in basic and specific disciplines related to the field of civil engineering. A strong technical background in the basic and specific engineering subjects by the applicant is required and will be assessed through the documentation provided (degree certificate and transcript/diploma supplement) and, if necessary, an oral interview in English.

- Fee Waiver: exemption from the payment of the University tuition fee (only the payment of the Regional Tax is required).
- EDiSU Pavia scholarship: Edisu scholarship benefits for all level applicants include: accommodation in a Residence; one meal per day at the canteens; a sum of money, according to the student’s economic situation.
- SUBJECT-SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIP: Master’s Degree program Civil engineering for mitigation of risk from natural hazards awards scholarships to the most deserving International applicants, according to a merit-based evaluation. The scholarship provides a monthly grant.
- “STUDY IN ITALY” : The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also assigns scholarships to applicants from specific countries, fulfilling some merit requirements and enrolling in Master’s Degree and PhD programs. The scholarship provides a Tuition Fee exemption (Regional Tax excluded) and a monthly grant.
Tuition
- Fees for EU and non-EU students regularly residing in Italy are based on students’ family income and on the field of study. They range from about 156 EUR to 4000 EUR per year.
- Non-Eu students with a valid study VISA can benefit from a flat rate, set on the basis of the Country of citizenship and the field of study. The flat rate ranges from 400 EUR to 4500 EUR per year.

Upon completion of this program, graduates will be awarded a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering for Mitigation of Risk from Natural Hazards.
