About this program
Polytechnique Montréal offers a Chemical Engineering programme. Contrary to what its title may suggest, the chemical engineer is not working in the laboratory, but in an industrial environment. Indeed, it is in the development and transformation of chemicals to apply the knowledge gained in chemistry, mathematics and physics. The chemical engineer designing equipment and processes used in factories operating in several industrial sectors (chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, plastics, petrochemicals, food, etc..) and ensure the smooth running of them. It also controls product quality by seeking to improve processes that lead to the transformation of raw materials. It is concerned therefore of efficiency and economy in a context of sustainable development.
