Master of Electrical Engineering

The Master of Electrical Engineering Program is a comprehensive course of study providing graduate students with the foundational knowledge needed to pioneer the next generation of networked, integrated systems.

The Master of Science in Electrical Engineering teaches the design and implementation of innovative electronic circuits and ICT solutions for almost every sector: from smart health to self-driving cars, from the latest wearables to massive power plants. You'll learn how to solve problems using signalprocessing algorithms, software, hardware and ICs as complimentary components of a truly integrated design.

Our goal is to equip you with the necessary technical skills and methods to contribute to the creation of this digital environment. The program counts four options, each with their own emphasis.

Admission requirements

Academic requirements:

  • You will find these requirements specified in the tab Admission requirements in the official Program guide of the KU Leuven.

Language requirements:

  • Applicants enrolling for the first time at KU Leuven prove their English language proficiency by means of an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge English Exam (CAE).
  • The minimum score required for IELTS is 7 (with no subscore under 6.5).
  • For the TOEFL internet-based test the minimum score is 94 (with no subscore under 22).
  • The minimum score required for the Cambridge English Exam (CAE) is 185 (with no subscore under 176).
  • Applicants with a university degree or high school degree earned in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the USA are exempted from this requirement: the degree and transcripts suffice, provided they confirm that the entire study was completed in English.

The Master of Electrical Engineering Program graduates are found in a surprising amount of sectors. Masters graduates work in Electrical Engineering, in ICT companies and the IT departments of large companies, banks and service providers.
