Bachelor of Engineering Technology

This bachelor’s program will teach you to tackle technological challenges in a critical and methodical way. You will acquire a broad scientific basis, and get the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice.

Graduates in Engineering Technology need to be all-rounders who are multi-deployable. Therefore, a polyvalent and generic engineering training is crucial. The renewed program offers a solid engineering basis which you can always fall back on.

The program offers a broad introduction to mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology. In addition, you will immerse yourself in typical engineering disciplines such as computer science, graphic techniques and project skills. You will learn to think and act critically. You will also develop skills in the field of management, communication and teamwork.

The academic bachelor's program consists of 3 program stages. The entire program covers 180 ECTS. The first bachelor's stage covers generic engineering training for all students. It consists of basic sciences, introductions to various technologies, a number of broadening courses and the projects of the Engineering Experience. The generic engineering training partly continues in the second and third bachelor's stage. In the second stage of the program, you select a specialisation. In the third bachelor's stage, you choose a specific option within your specialisation.

Admission requirements

The admission policy is intended to ensure equal opportunity of access to higher education for qualified European and third country students. They have to meet the conditions below.

All applications from students who have obtained a degree outside the Flemish Community are evaluated by both KU Leuven Admissions Office and the relevant master’s program director. Final admission decisions will made be at the discretion of the Faculty.

  • Academic background: Applicants who obtained a secondary education degree or university degree awarded by a recognized educational institution, on the condition that this document gives admission to a Bachelor's program in the country where it has been awarded.
  • Mathematics proficiency: Applicants need to provide a SAT, ACT or OMPT-D test. Some applicants may be admitted without proof of the minimum required SAT, ACT or OMPT-D score, but in that case are required to participate in the positioning test, which takes place on campus (Leuven) and typically in the beginning of July
  • English language proficiency: students should have a good command of English, both spoken and written. Students have to provide a mandatory proof of their proficiency by providing a recognized language test.
