The Formulation Chemistry major offered by ITECH Lyon allows students to become highly skilled and knowledgeable engineers in the fields of Paints, Cosmetics, Inks and Adhesives. The process of improving on and discovering new polymer based mixtures is continuously opening new horizons for industries.
Whether it’s phasing out ingredients for sustainable reasons, such as making zinc-free anti-corrosion powder coatings, or finding eco-certified cosmetic products, the science and research needed creates many opportunities for those wishing to be creative in industries which are constantly evolving. Typical employment positions can be found in the automotive, sports, luxury and raw materials producer sectors.
Common core curriculum in polymer chemistry and physical chemistry give students the basis for understanding the different raw materials needed, their properties, how they are chosen… You will also delve into formulation theory and practical lab work as well as learning the different characterisation techniques needed to evaluate the quality of your final cosmetic or coating product and respond to specifications.

An admission straight into 2nd Year is possible if you have a MSc in Chemistry/Polymers/Materials Science or if you've at least completed a 1st year of MSc.
